Indication

In the treatment of severe anxiety disorders

In the short term management of insomnia

In the control of muscle spasm as in tetanus

As an anticonvulsant particularly in the management of status epilepticus and febrile convulsion

In the management of alcohol withdrawal symptoms

As a sedative


Dosage and Administration

 Adults :• Management of anxiety disorders and relief of symptoms of anxiety : Depending upon the severity of symptoms 2 mg to 10 mg, 2-4 times daily.

For the short term management of insomnia associated with anxiety : 5 - 15 mg at bed time.

Adjunctively for relief of skeletal muscle spasm : 2 mg to 10 mg, 3 or 4 times daily.

Adjunctively in convulsive disorders : 2 mg to 10 mg, 2 to 4 times daily.

Symptomatic relief in acute alcohol withdrawal : 10 mg, 3 or 4 times during the first 24 hours reducing to 5 mg 3 or 4 times daily as needed.

As premedicant before dental or minor surgical or other procedures : 5 to 20 mg as single dose or in divided doses.

Children : Because of varied response to CNS acting drugs, therapy should be initiated with lowest dose and then increases as required. 1 to 2.5 mg, 3 or 4 times daily initially, increases gradually as needed and tolerated.


Composition

Each tablet contains Diazepam BP 5 mg.
