Indication
Respiratory tract infections : Sinusitis, tonsillitis, pharyngitis, otitis media, laryngitis, pneumonia, lung abscess and bronchitis. Genitourinary tract infections (Obstetric and gynaecological infections) : Pyelonephritis, cystitis, urethritis, gonorrhoea. Skin and soft tissue infections : Cellulitis, infected wounds, carbuncles, furunculosis. Others : Endocarditis, septicaemia, post operative infections etc.
Dosage and Administration
Oral : Adult dosage : 250 mg three times daily, increasing to 500 mg three times daily for more severe infections. Maximum recommended oral dosage 6 g daily in divided doses. Severe or recurrent purulent respiratory tract infections : 3 g twice daily. Urinary tract infections : 3 g repeated after 10 to 12 hours. Dental abscess : 3 g repeated after 8 hours. Gonorrhoea : Single 3 g dose.Injection : Adults : 250 mg to 500 mg eight hourly intramuscularly. If needed doses may be increased as directed by the physician. In severe infections, 500 mg to 1 g may be given every 6 hours by slow intravenous injection over 3 to 4 minutes. Children dosage : Children (up to 10 years) : 125 mg three times daily, increasing to 250 mg three times daily for more severe infections. Children (under 2 years) : 62.5 - 125 mg (½ to 1 measuring spoonful) 3 times daily. Otitis media (children 3 to 10 years) : 750 mg twice daily for 2 days. Children (up to 10 years) : Children may be given 50 to 100 mg /kg body weight in 3 - 4 divided doses by intramuscularly or slow intravenous injection over 3 - 4 minutes.

Powder for Paediatric Drops : 125 mg Amoxicillin / 1.25 ml. Injection 250 : Amoxicillin 250 mg. Injection 500 : Amoxicillin 500 mg.
